New 'Batman V Superman' Clips Reveal More Than Just A Superhero Battle For The Ages
We're less than a week away from seeing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice debut on the big screen, giving DC Comics fans the cinematic match-up they've been dreaming about for years. So far the trailers and TV spots have fans divided on their excitement for the battle, mostly due to their enjoyment or distaste for director Zack Snyder, but the box office tracking indicates this is undoubtedly going to be a huge movie.
If you're desperate for as much footage from the movie as possible, you can check out five Batman v Superman clips. They're basically extended bits of footage of snippets that we've seen in the trailers. We get a bit more of the battle of words between Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) and Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck), but characters like Alfred (Jeremy Irons), Lex Luthor (Jesse Eiesenberg) Lois Lane (Amy Adams) and Perry White (Laurence Fishburne) get some more screentime as well. Plus, one clip shows us a saucy exchange between Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince (Gal Gadot).
Here's the six Batman v Superman clips (via JoBlo):
Lex Luthor taunts Superman, well aware that he's off to fight The Dark Knight, something that Luthor has likely manipulated them both to do. But is there a better reason than just creating chaos between the heroes of Gotham City and Metropolis? And why does Superman follow through if he knows that's what Lex Luthor wants?
This might be the most interesting clip from this batch. Diana Prince seems to have stolen something that Bruce Wayne stole before that. There's chatter of some kind of data and a mysterious man. Are they talking about Superman or Lex Luthor? Or is there some unseen threat that hasn't been teased in the trailer? We're not sure.
Lois Lane is doing her intrepid reporter thing, following a lead based on a bullet that isn't used by the usual authorities. Does it belong to Batman? Or does it belong to someone even more mysterious? Could it be tied to whoever Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince are talking about in one of the above clips?
Bruce Wayne is pretty pissed at Superman, and he's ready to fight. That line about how many of the good guys actually stayed good is an interesting one. Could that possibly hint at the Red Hood storyline that's been rumored?
This is easily my favorite bit of footage from the trailer, and it's fun to see more of Bruce Wayne being a total arrogant jerk. Is Bruce Wayne really that much of a prick now, or is it all an act? Either way, I like what Ben Affleck is bringing to the table.
Anyway, in less than a week we'll get to see the entire movie that surrounds these clips, and then everyone can see how the seeds for the future of the DC Comics cinematic universe are planted. While my own excitement isn't high, I'm hoping for the best.
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25th.
