Three Join Marvel's Agents Of SHIELD Season 2 Cast, Find Out Their Comic Book History [Comic Con 2014]
During the Marvel Television panel at 2014 San Diego Comic Con, three new actors were announced for Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Season 2 cast. After the jump you can find out more information about the new actors and actresses joining the ABC series, what roles they play and a brief look at the history of the characters from the comic books.
They have confirmed the previous reports that Lucy Lawless will be joining the show as Isabelle Hartley. She will play a longtime SHIELD veteren. She is tough and is known to brandish a knife. As far as I can tell, Hartley has not appeared in the Marvel comics as her name is not in the Marvel comics database.
Trollied star Nick Blood (yes, that is an actor's real name) will be playing a mercenary named Lance Hunter who helps with the SHIELD team, which is being hunted and chased around the globe. In the Marvel comics, Hunter was the director of S.T.R.I.K.E.
He assisted S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain America and Captain Britain in defeating the Red Skull and later tried to recruit Captain Britain after rescuing him from the police several times. He has expert intelligence agent. Abilities in firearms using, unarmed combat and demolition/bomb-disposal.
Reed Diamond (Moneyball) will be playing the season's big bad Daniel Whitehall, a Hydra baddie known as Kraken in Secret Warriors. Here is the character's bio from the MArvel comics database:
Daniel Whitehall, alias the Kraken is a legendary HYDRA agent, who existence had been unverifiable, until recently. Any S.H.I.E.L.D. agents that tried to find documented proof all disappeared. The Kraken preferred to work behind the scenes, seeing it as his mission to help people become what they are meant to be, usually with dangerous results. For decades he was responsible for developing HYDRA's best assets, training their best talent. This involved a lot of human trafficking, theft and murder. He was the head of the school that trained orphaned girls,, including a young Viper into human weapons. The current Kraken is actually the second Kraken, having stolen the original's identity by taking his equipment and reading his journals.
