'A Series Of Unfortunate Events' Trailer: Netflix Suggests You Watch Something More Pleasant Instead
"If you are interested in stories with happy endings, that story is streaming elsewhere." So begins Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warburton) in the latest trailer for Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Lest you failed to heed his advice the first time, he adds, "I would advise all our viewers to watch something more pleasant instead."
But if you've got a taste for the dark and dreadful, then, well, you might be in the right place. Neil Patrick Harris leads the show as the devious Count Olaf, who'll stop at nothing to get his hands on the fortunes left to the recently orphaned Baudelaire children (played by Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes). A Series of Unfortunate Events Trailer
The A Series of Unfortunate Events seems to do a pretty good job of capturing the source material's darkly comedic tone, as well as its timeless Gothic vibe. Harris has his work cut out for him if he wants to live up to Jim Carrey's performance in 2004's A Series of Unfortunate Events, but he seems to be having a lot of fun in the role. And the supporting cast is lousy with great character actors including Alfre Woodard (recently seen on another, very different Netflix drama), Joan Cusack, Catherine O'Hara, Aasif Mandvi, Rhys Darby, and Don Johnson.
All eight episodes of A Series of Unfortunate Events will hit Netflix on January 13, 2017. Barry Sonnenfeld (who executive produced the 2004 movie) and Daniel Handler (who wrote the original books) serve as executive producers.
Dear Viewer,
If you are interested in a story with a happy ending, that story is streaming elsewhere. This story has no happy ending, no happy beginning, and very few happy things in the middle.
Based on the internationally best-selling series of books by Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler) and starring Emmy and Tony Award winner Neil Patrick Harris, A Series of Unfortunate Events recounts the tragic tale of the Baudelaire orphans — Violet, Klaus, and Sunny – whose evil guardian Count Olaf will stop at nothing to get his hands on their inheritance. The siblings must outsmart Olaf at every turn, foiling his many devious plans and disguises, in order to discover clues to their parents' mysterious death.
